In the three months in 2020, most human and animal populations on earth have been wiped out by blind supernatural organisms, which were caused by meteor showers affecting the earth. Organisms that attack anything that makes noise, hypersessive hearing and indestructible, armored skin.
The Abbott family – wife Evelyn, husband Lee, congenital deaf daughter Regan and son Marcus and Beau – carry muddy scavenging quietly for supplies in a secluded city. While in the open, the family communicates with the American Sign Language (ASL). Four-year-old Beau is designed to toys a battery-powered spacecraft, but Lee takes it away due to noise. Regan returns the toy to the beaver, which also takes the batteries removed by his father. When the family is walking home and crossing a bridge, Beau activated the toy and gave his location to a nearby creature who killed Lee before he was rescued.
