Movie Plot: Following a ghost invasion of Manhattan, paranormal enthusiasts Erin Gilbert and Abby Yates, nuclear engineer Jillian Holtzmann, and subway worker Patty Tolan band together to stop the otherworldly threat. Physicists Abbi Yates and Erin Gilbert are the authors of a research book that shows the existence of paranormal phenomena such as ghosts. While Abbey continued to study paranormal at a technical college with eccentric engineer Jillian Holtzman, now professor at Columbia University, Erin declined the task, fearing it might jeopardize her tenure. When Abby republished the book, Erby persuades her to agree to remove the book from publication in exchange for helping Abby and Jillian in an unusual investigation. They bear witness to a malevolent ghost who restored Erin’s faith in Paranormal, but video footage of the investigation is posted online, and Erin is fired by the university. She joins Abby and Jillian to establish new offices above a Chinese restaurant, calling herself “the conductor of metaphysical examination”. They make tools to study and capture ghosts, and hire the retarded but handsome Kevin Beckman as a receptionist.
