A South Florida high school senior, Brittany Hevers lives with her wealthy stepfather, Nils Dunlop, when her mother “Gator Alley” He ran his car on the road and was eaten by crocodiles a year ago. When Dunlop is killed in a private plane crash, he will call Britney to receive a short stipend until the college ends, after which he will receive only $25,000 per year for life from the property. Dunlop’s remaining assets, totaling $70 million, are to be left to a corporate trust, unless a blood heir can’t be found.

Brittany’s brash, relatively poor classmate Maya King suddenly claims to be Dunlop’s illegitimate daughter as a result of her mother’s extramarital affair. At Dunlop’s house, Britney hears a noise on his way to the dungeon of wine, but it just emptors. The trio are in cahoots, running a scam to secure and share Dunlop’s fate.
