The A-X-L is a top-secret, robotic dog designed by Andrik, a Kalin system scientist, who helps protect tomorrow’s soldiers. Wanted by the Army, who knows it can be dangerous technology. The code named by scientists of the coding system that created them, the A-X-L (attack, exploration, logistics) symbolizes the most advanced next-generation artificial intelligence. After an experiment went wrong, the A-X-L has been discovered alone in the desert by a kind outsider of Hill alone in the mile to find a way to connect with him after activating his owner-pairing technology. Helping Miles regain the confidence he lacks, the A-X-L will go into any length to protect his new partner, including facing against the scientists who created him and who will do anything to get him back. Knowing that if the A-X-L is captured, Miles works closely with a smart, resource associate called Sarah Reyes to protect her new best friend.

Miles and Sarah go back to Miles’ house (except an A-X-L somewhere in an old ruins), and tell his father Chuck about the A-X-L, but Chuck tells them to return the A-X-L to their owners. At the same time, Sam returns with his team and burns the A-X-L with his flamthroatover. Sarah watches live recordings on her phone and both Miles and Sarah leave to save the A-X-L, but it’s too late. However, the A-X-L gives them a place to go for repairs. Meanwhile, a man sent by Andrek shows up at home and demands that Chuck reveal the location of the device controlling the A-X-L. Chuck manages to dodge the growing suspect, man, and demands him answer his questions. The agent suggests that he is looking for a X-L.
