England, early 18th century. The close relationship between Queen Anne and Sarah Churchill is threatened by the arrival of Sarah’s cousin, Abigail Hill, resulting in a bitter rivalry between the two cousins to be the Queen’s favourite. It is 1708, and the recently formed Kingdom of Great Britain is at war with France. Queen Anne is in weak health; She shows little interest in governing, prioritizes activities like duck racing and plays with her 17 rabbits, each of which she has lost. Her confidant, consultant and nimble lover Sarah Churchill ruled the country effectively through her influence on the Queen. Sarah’s efforts to control Anne were later incorporated into Robert Harley (who, later in May 1711, the First Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer), the leader of the opposition, who argued to double the proposed property taxes as a zamindar. So that war can be funded.Abigail Hill, Sarah’s younger cousin, comes in search of employment. Abigail’s stand is tarnished by her father, who drove her into the game. Abigail is forced to work as a working maid in the palace, but, after seeing the Queen’s gout, she forces herbs and applies them to the swelling of the queen’s feet. Sarah has trapped her for her pride, but she made her a woman sleeping in bed after she realized the herbs after helping the queen. Harley asks Abigail to spy on Sarah and the Queen, hoping to circumvent Sarah’s authority. Abigail sees Sarah and the queen having sex.
